The McNeese State University Department of Performing Arts will present the McNeese choirs in a free concert at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, May 5, in the Shearman Fine Arts Theatre. The Vocal Ensemble will present madrigals from the Renaissance and Contemporary periods. The set will contain a variety of moods and textures.

A free spring concert by members of the Louisiana chapter of the American Harp Society will be presented at 3 p.m.Sunday, May 1, in Ralph Squires Auditorium at McNeese State University. Chartered in 1972, the chapter will celebrate 40 years as an active organization in 2012 and this program launches its celebration with favorite works performed over the past four decades, including "Little David, Play on Your Harp." Those performing are harpists Lynette Babineaux, Barbara Belew, Carla Breaux and Carol Fraser of Lake Charles, Katie Evans of Sulphur, Melissa Lange of DeRidder, and Patricia Horvath and Marlene Mullenix of Moss Bluff. Grammy-nominated Roberta Gambarini, an Italian jazz singer who sings with a distinctly American jazz flavor, will be singing in Lake Charles as part of the McNeese State University Banners Cultural Series at 3 p.m. this Sunday, March 20, in the F.G. Bulber Auditorium on the McNeese campus. She will perform with her quartet. The concert's venue has been changed to F.G. Bulber from the originally scheduled Shearman Fine Arts Theatre because demand for tickets is greater than the Shearman Fine Arts Theatre can hold, said Mary Richardson, Banners director. Tickets are included in a Banners Series membership. Individual tickets can be purchased online at the Banner's Website, at the Lake Charles Civic Center box office and at the door.
