{"id":5402,"date":"2020-07-01T16:16:31","date_gmt":"2020-07-01T21:16:31","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.mcneese.edu\/hr\/?page_id=5402"},"modified":"2026-02-09T08:52:38","modified_gmt":"2026-02-09T14:52:38","slug":"instructions-for-certification-to-drive","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.mcneese.edu\/hr\/instructions-for-certification-to-drive\/","title":{"rendered":"Instructions For Certification To Drive"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading display-3\">Steps for Certification<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The supervisor must determine if the employee will be required to drive on University business.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The employee must read the <strong>Driver Safety Program<\/strong> (Section 2) of the <a href=\"\/safetymanual\">LOSS PREVENTION MANUAL<\/a> :\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><a href=\"\/safetymanual\/2.11\">General Requirements (Section 2.11)<\/a><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"\/safetymanual\/2.12\">Employee Enrollment (Section 2.12)<\/a><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"\/safetymanual\/2.13\">Accident Reporting (Section 2.13)<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>An Official Driving Record or ODR is required yearly by state law. Human Resources obtains the ODR from the Louisiana Office of Motor Vehicles. To obtain the ODR, the employee must complete the <a href=\"\/hr\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/17\/2020\/07\/authorization-and-driver-history-form.pdf\">Authorization\/Driver History Form<\/a>. <strong>The employee must submit this form to <\/strong><a href=\"mailto:lmorrot@mcneese.edu\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">lmorrot@mcneese.edu<\/a><strong>.<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>***For any employees with an out-of-state driver\u2019s license, you must complete the required driver authorization form AND submit a request for certified driving record through your issuing state. <\/strong>The certified driving record can be emailed to <a href=\"mailto:lmorrot@mcneese.edu\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">lmorrot@mcneese.edu<\/a>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>A Defensive Driving Course is required every three years by state law.
