There are four main sources of funding for students, and not all of them need to be paid back:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Types of Federal Student Aid\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/Pn4OECMTh5w?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading display-3\"><strong>Scholarships<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>Scholarships are a type of financial aid that doesn\u2019t need to be repaid. McNeese offers a number of scholarships based on academic achievement, financial need and other factors, while specific degree programs, clubs, organizations and athletic teams may also offer scholarship opportunities or awards. For more information, <a href=\"\/student-central\/scholarships\/\">check out the Scholarships Office<\/a>. <\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading display-3\"><strong>Grants<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>Grants are a need-based form of financial aid and do not have to be repaid.\u202f Eligibility is determined by the information provided by you on your FAFSA.\u202f\u202f\u00a0<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>The Federal Pell Grant<\/strong> is a needs-based grant, and awards range from $740 to 7,395 annually. Students must maintain Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) to qualify.\u202f\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>The Federal Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grant<\/strong> (FSEOG) awards up to $2,000 annually.\u202f Students qualify for this grant based on need, enrollment status and the amount of other aid received. To qualify, students must also be eligible for the Federal Pell Grant and must maintain Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP). <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>The Louisiana Go Grant<\/strong> is a needs-based grant for Louisiana residents.\u202f The Go Grant award for full-time students is $3,000 per academic year, while eligible part-time students may receive up to $2,000 per year.\u00a0\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading display-3\"><strong>Student Loans <\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-style-default is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>Student loans are funds borrowed to pay for tuition and other university expenses, and must be repaid with interest. There are two main types of federal student loans:<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Direct Subsidized Loans <\/strong>\u2013 Students with a demonstrated financial need determined by FAFSA may qualify for subsidized student loans. In this type of loan, students do not have to pay interest on loans while enrolled or during the six month grace period after graduation.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Direct Unsubsidized Loans<\/strong> \u2013 Regardless of financial need, all students qualify for unsubsidized loans. With this type of loan, students are responsible for making interest payments on loans while enrolled.&nbsp; <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"\/financial-aid\/student-loans\/\">Visit student loans for more information. <\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading display-3\">Work-Study Program<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>The Federal Work Study Program provides jobs for students with demonstrated financial need. Work-study students are paid at least minimum wage and can work up to 29 hours per week depending on eligibility. To qualify, students must be enrolled at least part time (6 credit hours)<a aria-label=\"SAP (opens in a new tab)\" href=\"https:\/\/www.mcneese.edu\/policy\/financial_aid_satisfactory_academic_progress_sta\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"> and maintain SAP<\/a>. Funds are limited and positions are awarded based on student eligibility and on a first-come, first-serve basis.
