Weather Update – Mandatory Evacuation Recommended

Effective 11 a.m today, Tuesday, August 25, Calcasieu Parish officials are recommending a mandatory evacuation. Hurricane Laura is expected to strengthen to a strong category 2 or possibly a category 3 storm before making landfall late Wednesday or early Thursday along the Texas-Louisiana border. An extended period of high winds and flooding is expected resulting in downed trees and widespread power outages.
The campus is currently closed and classes are suspended through Friday, August 28.
