SAGE Series — “River Road Ramblings”
As a part of the fall 2019 SAGE series, author Mary Ann Sternberg will present a lecture titled, “River Road Ramblings” at 3 p.m., Monday, Oct. 28, in the McNeese State University SEED Center.
For two decades, Mary Ann Sternberg explored the many different cultures and traditions of the areas surrounding the river road between New Orleans and Baton Rouge. Her travels took her to many colorful locations, ranging from the well-known National Hansen’s Disease Center Museum to the disappearing Colonial Sugars Historic District and the abandoned Valcour Aime garden.
In her lecture, Sternberg will introduce audiences to the richness of the region and its attractions, both those that are open to the public and those closed to visitors.
Sternberg is a freelance writer with a focus on Louisiana history, culture and natural history. She is the author of “Along the River Road” (1996), “Winding through Time” (2007), “River Road Rambler” (2013) and a children’s book “Gilly and Bloo” (2016).
SAGE lectures are open to the public and cost is $69 for the series. For more information or to register, call 337-475-5616 or visit www.mcneese.edu/leisure.
