Alumni Association to Host 22nd Annual Phonathon

(January 18, 2017) The McNeese State University Alumni Association will host its 22nd annual phonathon Sunday, Jan. 22, through Tuesday, Jan. 31. McNeese students will be calling alumni to update contact information and asking McNeese graduates to help support the university by making a donation to the Annual Fund.

“McNeese alumni have been generous in their support. Last year, $90,000 was donated and the hope is to see that increase this year. Alumni gifts - large and small - are combined together, which help to make an even greater impact on the university,” said Joyce Patterson, director of alumni affairs.

“It is financial support from our alumni that helps to keep the university on the cutting edge of technology and to best complete our mission of educating our students and preparing them for the workforce,” she added.

Patterson said monies raised are immediately spent on campus for scholarships, undergraduate research projects, recruiting, university promotions, faculty support and those areas that have been hurt the hardest from continuing state budget cuts.

The phonathon is also a great way to update addresses and to have the student callers answer questions that alumni may have. “This allows our alumni to keep connected with their alma mater,” said Patterson.
