Undergraduate Scholar and Research Symposium

Student undergraduate research presentations and a performing arts competition are just a few of the highlights of the upcoming 2014 Undergraduate Scholar and Research Symposium March 11-12 at McNeese State University.

Top selections in each of these areas will advance to participate in the third annual University of Louisiana System Academic Summit April 11-12 hosted on the University of Louisiana at Lafayette campus. This two-day conference showcases academic excellence across the system's nine universities.
The public is invited to a reception from 6-7 p.m. Tuesday, March 11, in the Shearman Fine Arts Atrium to view the 30 undergraduate research posters presented by students from various disciplines across campus. A team of judges will hear oral presentations from 4-6 p.m. and will then select the top four oral presenters and the top six poster presenters to move on to the the UL System Academic Summit.

The performing arts competition will be held from 7-8 p.m. in the SFA Performing Arts Theatre with seven to nine student performances. Audience members will have the opportunity to vote on their favorite of the evening. One winner will be selected to move on to represent McNeese at the Performance Art Showcase at the Academic Summit.
The annual Juried Student Exhibition also opens Tuesday with a reception from 6-8 p.m. in the Abercrombie Gallery.

The undergraduate research recognition ceremony will be held at 4 p.m. Wednesday, March 12, at the Stream Alumni Center.
