(October 2, 2014) Don't miss out on all of the fun Friday, Oct. 17, as McNeese State University hosts its 75th Anniversary Diamond Jubilee celebration. This event is for all alumni, friends of the university, faculty, staff and students and will take place at the Stream Alumni Center located at 600 E. McNeese St.
Tickets are $75 per couple and $40 for individuals and they will be sold in advance at the Alumni Center, Monday-Friday, from 7:45 a.m.-noon and 1-4:30 p.m. and online at mcneesealumni.com/diamondjubilee. Tickets are $25 each for McNeese students but can only be purchased in the Holbrook Student Union and Activities Office.
The celebration will begin at 6 p.m. with special performances by student groups and faculty from the McNeese Department of Performing Arts. The Backyard Cowboys Band will perform from 7:30-9 p.m.
"We will be using the new Robert Noland Alumni Pavilion and entertainment stages will be located outside in the Alumni Grove and in the center," McNeese Alumni Affairs Director Joyce Patterson said.
In addition to great food and open bar, there will be a silent auction, photo booth for souvenir photos, a commemorative gift for all attendees and a special tour of the visiting Budweiser Clydesdales traveling stable area.
A Jubilee ticket also includes a special VIP "behind the scenes" tour of the new Budweiser Clydesdales Enhanced Stable Experience. McNeese is just the sixth stop - and the first university - in the country for this new Enhanced Stable Experience.
A company ambassador will guide guests through the specially designed 120'x60' tent that includes the individual stalls, the Clydesdale Theatre and Legacy Kiosk that incudes hands-on authentic hitch driving lines and a display of the custom designed and handcrafted ornamental harness and collars.
The special tour provides an in-depth look at what it takes for horses to make the hitch team and at the Clydesdale training process. Jubilee guests will get a sneak peek at the grooming area and what goes on to prepare the world famous Clydesdales for their public appearances as well as photo opportunities with these "Gentle Giants" and their Dalmatian mascot.
The restored, turn-of-the-century red beer wagon will be located inside the Grove and drivers will be on hand to give Jubilee guests insight on the training and skill it takes to become a Budweiser Clydesdale Hitch Driver. A special sampling from the wagon will be offered to guests over the age of 21.
