to submit essays for its
So, you like to write? contest.
Prizes and Awards
The five winning essays will be published in the University's writing-across-the-curriculum newsletter, WAC Notes.
Four winning writers will receive a $100.00 cash prize and a $25.00 gift certificate from the MSU Bookstore.
Prize-winning writers will read their essays at the
So, you like to write? night from 6-8 p.m. in the Burton Conference Center on the MSU campus.
Topic for 2007-08 "So, you like to write?" essay contest:
If you had the power to change any event in history (outcome of an election, who won a war, etc.), which would you choose to change, and why?
Essay Submission Guidelines
- Essay must be at least 500-words in length.
- Essay should be typed, double-space. Font should be non-italic font.
- Writer's name should not appear on the paper.
- Attach guidelines sheet to essay.
- Submit either electronic or paper copy to your English teacher.
- Essays will be judged by a committee of University faculty and staff on creativity, development of paragraphs, and clarity and elegance of sentences.
- Questions may be directed to Dr. Delma McLeod-Porter at dporter@mcneese.edu.
- All essays must be submitted by Monday, December 3, 2007.
- Winners will be announced on February 11, 2008.
- Winners will read their essays to invited guests on Thursday, February 21, 2008, from 6-8 in the Burton Conference Center on the MSU Campus.
