What are SACS, QEP, and Write to Excellence?
The Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS) is the accrediting body that examines our programs and institution, and verifies that McNeese State University can grant degrees.
The Quality Enhancement Plan (QEP) is one component of the SACS reaccreditation process.
McNeese State University has chosen Write to Excellence: Foundation for Writing
Effectively and Appropriately as Required in the Disciplines as our QEP.
The QEP statement of intent is as follows:
After completing core curriculum and course requirements, students will have the foundation to write effectively and appropriately as required by their disciplines.
Write to Excellence Goals:
- Students will improve writing skills and recognize the value of effective academic writing.
- Students will improve their writing proficiencies as they progress through their general education courses.
- Students will demonstrate satisfactory writing proficiencies on the mid-point assessment of academic progress.
