2014 Fall Semester Free Nutritional Counseling Free nutritional counseling on campus provided by Master level dietetic interns is available to McNeese faculty, staff, & students.  Topics include weight loss, healthy lifestyle management, general sports nutrition, and education when disordered eating behaviors are present.  Doctor approval is needed for specialized diet such as a diabetic diet.  Call 475-5748 to schedule an appointment. Fall exercise classes will start!  Schedules are posted in the Rec Complex or can be found at www.mcneese.edu/wellness. The Fall fitness classes will start on August 25th.  Check the class schedule on our website for fall class times and start dates.  Class include:  Zumba,Yoga, Circuits, RIPPED, Cardio Kickboxing, Bodysculpting, Cardio Blast, & Water Fitness.  Classes held during lunch time (11am-1pm) are free for McNeese employees.  There is no charge for McNeese students. Register for the Blue & Gold Fitness Challenge! Fall into fitness with our new Blue & Gold Challenge!  Track your miles using your choice of exercise.  New--Set nutrition goals each week and receive weekly nutrition and wellness tips.  Participate as an individual or form a team of 3-5 of your fellow coworkers and/or students.  The challenge runs September 15th-November 2nd.  Open to all McNeese employees and students. Register in the Wellness Program Office     (Rec 212)

Wellness Screening at the Employee Benefits Fair Do you know your numbers?  Find out what your numbers are and what they mean to your health by getting a wellness screening.  The cost is $30 payable at the time of the screening.  The screening includes: blood pressure, cholesterol (Total, HDL,LDL), glucose, TSH (thyroid) for women, PSA (prostate) for men, & a CBC (complete blood count).  At least a 4 hour fast is required.  Contact Kelly Darbonne for more info @ 475-5277.  Year Round Smoking Cessation Program Smoking Cessation Counseling is offered to McNeese employees through our wellness parter, CHRISTUS St. Patrick Hospital.  Visit ChristusStPatrick.org/SmokingCessation to download an online workbook and 21 day guide that can help you quit smoking.  A counselor is also available to help you work on plan to quit.  Contact Kelly Darbonne @ 475-5277 or spc-kdarbonne@mcneese.edu for more details.

Register for a free Blood Pressure Control Program Learn ways to lower & control your blood pressure.  Also receive assistance to develop your own personalized plan to lower your blood pressure.  The program will run October 6th-31st and consist of goal setting, education & weekly blood pressure checks.  Open to McNeese employees and students with a blood pressure of 130/80 and higher. Register in Wellness Program Office (Rec 212)
11/1/2014 American Heart Association Heart Walk Want to join our McNeese team to help raise funds for the American Heart Association?  Contact Kelly spc-kdarbonne@mcneese.edu.  Join us around 8am for the Heart Walk on November 1st.  The walk is held in the Quad on campus! Quad on McNeese campus
Coming late fall!       Flu Shots Protect yourself during flu season with a flu shot.  Shots will be offered on campus for a small fee.  Time/Date/Location& Fee will be announced soon.
Fall 2014 Wellness to Go Program Our Wellness Program will be on the move this fall.  Get your blood pressure checked, pick up your Sit for 60/Move for 3 Challenge, & get healthy recipes. Locations to be announced soon!  Contact Kelly if you'd like to bring the Wellness Program to your department.
