(October 16, 2012) The McNeese State University Department of Visual Arts will host an opening reception from 6-8 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 18, in the Abercrombie Gallery for a pair of exhibitions: "Navigating the Currents" and "Drawing Invitational."

"Navigating the Currents" is an exchange portfolio of 100 prints organized by Inkteraction, an international printmakers network. Each print measures 5 x 7 inches, and "The Drawing Invitational" is an exhibition of works on paper that range from intimately scaled drawings and artists books to heroically proportioned installation pieces. This exhibit is curated by McNeese art professor Gerry Wubben.

"Navigating the Currents" will be on view through Nov. 8 in the Abercrombie Gallery, located in Room 125 in the Shearman Fine Arts Building, while the "Drawing Invitational" will remain on display through Dec. 21 in the Grand Gallery located at the entrance of the Shearman Fine Arts Annex. The galleries are open Monday through Friday from 9 a.m.-4 p.m.  For more information, call the McNeese Visual Arts Department at 337-475-5060.
