All participants are required to attend tutoring once a week after school in their own school and attend the Saturday Academy that is held once a month at McNeese State University. Students meet, September through May to receive academic instruction, guidance and tutoring. Students also participate in museum tours, plays, festivals, college and career fairs, community service, and other educational or cultural awareness activities. In addition, students receive information through Counseling Seminars, on topics such as study skills, financial aid, standardized test preparation, and scholarship opportunities. Juniors and seniors receive fee waivers for the ACT tests.
Students who complete all requirements of the program have the opportunity to earn stipends up to $40.00 per month during the academic year and up to $60.00 per month during the summer academy.
