Bridge Program

The Upward Bound Summer Bridge Program is designed to assist graduating participants with their transition from high school to college by giving them an opportunity to complete 6 hours of college credit at McNeese State University. The Upward Bound program pays all summer fees for Bridge students. This includes tuition, books, supplies, recreation and other fees pertaining to tuition. Bridge Program participation is highly competitive as room is limited each year.

In order to qualify for the Bridge Program a student must complete a Senior Survey. Students are selected for the program based on the following criteria:
• Attendance at after school and Saturday sessions
• Attendance at other required Upward Bound events
• Maintain a 2.5 GPA in all academic courses
• Take the ACT by October 31st of their senior year
• Submit at least 2 college applications by February 28 of their senior year
• Apply and or accepted into McNeese in order to Bridge
• Complete and submit FAFSA by March 30 of their senior year www.fafsa.ed.gov

In addition to attending classes, students will meet weekly with an Upward Bound staff member to monitor students progress, advise and answer questions.

The academic progress of graduates attending colleges and universities is continuously monitored by the Upward Bound staff. Follow-up on all graduates is an integral part of the program.

Freshman Scholarship:

Up to five scholarships may be awarded to Upward Bound Bridge participants to assist with their continuing education at McNeese.
