McNeese Participates in Blood Drive Competition

McNeese State University fans have a chance to give a competitive edge to their Cowboys against one of their big rivals - the Cardinals of Lamar University - by donating blood in the name of the university now through Nov. 20.

McNeese is partnering with LifeShare Blood Centers here in Lake Charles against Lamar and LifeShare Blood Centers in Beaumont in this friendly blood drive competition.

The Cowboys travel to Beaumont for the final regular season game Nov. 23 against Lamar and the university that collects the most units of blood will be presented a trophy during a halftime ceremony.

Cowboy fans can make donations at the LifeShare Center at 214 Dr. Michael Debakey Dr. or at any of its mobile coaches. Donors must say the donation is for McNeese for it to count for the competition.

The LifeShare Donor Coach will also be parked in the Memorial Gym parking lot on the McNeese campus from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. during Homecoming Week Oct. 14-18.

"Students, faculty and staff will also have the opportunity to roll up their sleeves and show their spirit all for a great cause," said Dr. Toby Osburn, associate vice president for university services. "Donating blood offers everyone in the campus community a chance to positively impact our many friends, neighbors and supporters throughout Southwest Louisiana and beyond."
