Shannon MillerShannon R. Miller serves as the Technical Director for McNeese state University Department of Performing Arts, Theatre Program. As Technical Director, Mr. Miller is responsible for instructing courses for Theatre, Design, and Technology and mentoring students in all matters related to design and technology for McNeese Theatre Bayou Players Productions. He is also responsible for the operation, supervision, and training of student crews for the new Performing Arts Center.

Mr. Miller began his career in 1988 as a stage technician for touring rock bands. From 1988 through present, he has embarked on a series of challenging career opportunities that fostered his teaching, leadership, entrepreneurial strengths, and talents for entertainment design and technology. During this time, he held positions at a variety of universities and professional theatres including Marshall University, WV; Utah Shakespeare Festival, UT; Millikin University, IL; Chicago Designs, IL, Southern Arena Theatre, MS, The University of Southern Mississippi, MS; William Carry College, MS.; Southern Opera, MS, Theatre West Virginia, WV; Tamarack Center, WV; Mill Mountain Theatre, VA; Public Theatre of Kentucky, KY; Western Kentucky University, KY; Kentucky Repertory Theatre, KY; Barnstormers Theatre, NH; Jefferson Performing Arts Society, LA, and The University of New Orleans, LA, as well as various design works for producing arts organizations across the county under his company Dzynes, NYC. These assignments provided for him unique perspective for problem solving in variety of circumstances with many different personalities, educational backgrounds, artistic visions, and production challenges.

Mr. Miller earned his BFA from Marshall University in 1997 while employed as Event Staff and Scene Shop stipend. He completed his MFA at The University of Southern Mississippi in 2003 where he served as the Technical Director for the College of the arts from 1998-2000, then for the Theatre Department from 2001-2003.
