Associate professor of theatre arts, Charles McNeely's involvement in theatre began in the summer of 1983, when this ad appeared on the front page of the Lake Charles American Press: "Acting Lessons. Call now to start your career." That ad was the stimulus that took him from stepping on stage to performing on stage as an undergraduate at McNeese where he received his B.A. in Theatre Arts. His M.F.A. in acting is from The University of New Orleans.
"Mr. Mac" teaches a wide selection of courses rated highly by his students and appears on stage as often as possible. "My attraction to acting stems from my desire to understand human behavior. I believe acting starts with ordinary behavior and intensifies or stylizes it." He uses the Stella Adler and Sanford Meisner techniques as the basis of his approach to teaching acting.
When away from the campus, he enjoys the company of his wonderful family and pursues the many outdoor activities and great Cajun cuisine that Southwest Louisiana offers.
