Call to Order
Michael Duff called the meeting to order at 2:40 pm. Members present were Michael Graham, Michael Duff, Todd Furman, Chad Thibodeaux, Chris Pelloquin, Janet Woolman, Carrie Rollins, Adam Benoit, and Wayne Fetter. Mallory Wall — non-member
Minutes are approved unanimously.
Janet Woolman will book McNeese room for future meetings.
CITO Update
Michael Graham
Expansion will start construction in October 2005
Update of state of TASC equipment.
Mike will mail list of equipment
Mike Graham suggests funds to maintain and funds for new projects.
Right now spending is approximately:
$50,000 for printing and administrative costs
about $650,000 yearly total
Mike Graham suggests give each college $50,000 for maintenance each year
1. this will get deans to prioritize
2. will make planning important
New Projects
1. Network equipment about $20,000 (Cisco)
2. Video for campus to bring in live feed from Mass. Comm. etc. and announcements. Cost $150,000 - $200,000
3. Portal – one log in Cost $250,000
4. One card system (p.11 in hand out)
a. Can charge a fee (Senate) to fund yearly
b. University has spent $3 million for infrastructure
c. Richard Roden – foundation gives no interest loan
d. M.G. will meet with Mallory Wall & Adam Benoit later to start process to take to Senate
Todd Furman proposes $50,000 in Fall for maintenance then in Spring for projects
- Deans need to have a say in the highest priority fix before ordering new
- Equal $50,000 to all six colleges and $50,000 to non-academic projects
Project: Wireless network for campus
- Not secure
- Only a convenience
- MSU has the equipment
- No Blackboard or Web for Students
Adam Benoit--> do we want to do now or spread over years
- motion to allot $50,000 to each college per M.G. (maintenance first in Fall then new purchases)
Todd Furman--> seconds
No further discussion
Mike Graham suggestions for $350,000 that is left
#1. network update $20,000 - $50,000
#2. Blackboard be tied to rest? unified system $40,000
#3. Video $150,000 - $200,000
Wireless--> hotspots $50,000 - $75,000
Portal--> $250,000 (could start this year & pay next year)
Todd Furman – we should vote on network
- motion to spend $50,000 to update network
(Motion to extend by 10 minutes)
No COTASCO update (Shannon is absent)
Adam Benoit wants more time to think about old business
