TASC MEETING
Minutes
27 July 2005

Call to Order
Michael Graham called the meeting to order at 3:00 pm. Members present were Michael Graham, Michael Duff, Todd Furman, Janet Woolman, Adam Benoit, Chad Thibodeaux, Chris Pelloquin, and Shannon Davis.

Michael Graham announced that Shannon Davis is serving as Interim COTASCO. Adam Benoit volunteers to sit on the permanent COTASCO hiring committee.

CITO Update
Michael Graham talked about the ID password system and shows the quote from EMAC, inc for the hardware needed.

Mr. Duff motions to approve funds for the EMAC, inc. system. Motion was seconded and passed unanimously.

Michael Graham talked about university employees picking up some work from TASC, and how COTASCO can approve that process.

Michael Graham discussed HRCC upgrade and how the bids were above $350,000. The amount set aside was $410,000. Work should start in the Fall semester. Chad Thibodeaux mentioned putting an architect’s rendering of the constructions and a “Coming Soon” sign up in Holbrook lab for students to see.

Michael Graham talked about projected plans for the upcoming year. He asked the committee to consider A) What is TASC and what is the university’s responsibility, and B) Do we want TASC to focus on bigger projects and possibly have ideas for next meeting.

Jane Woolman asked Michael Graham what TASC budget is and he gave answer of approximately $1.2 million.

Michael Graham talked about dial-up access. There is $114,000 set aside for this. The company we will use will probably be Xspedius. Mr. Duff motions to approve funds for the dial-up access. Motion was seconded and passed unanimously.

Shannon Davis made the following requests:

    Request approval of purchase of deep freeze for COWS & 1 lab to test software which allows more flexibility in utilizing computers for teachers
  • Committee approves unanimously
    Request new laptops for COWS
  • Committee approves unanimously
    Request JAWS screen reader software for persons with limited sight for computers
  • Committee approves unanimously
