The 2009 Summer Engineering Academy is designed for high school students (entering 11th and 12th grades) interested in pursuing science and engineering careers. The academy will utilize Lego Mindstorms NXT robotics kits to teach basic principles in dynamics, mechatronics, control systems, as well as other concepts associated with robotics. Explore the world of engineering as you experience a fun and creative teamwork challenge by participating in a two-week long hands-on workshop discovering the essential parts of robotics, exploring Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) careers while you experience college life as an engineering student.
- Students assigned individual tasks and work together in teams to complete assignments
- Students use NXT-G graphical language
- Student will learn basic engineering principles and methodologies including feedback control systems, data communication, and mechanisms.
