McNeese to Host Howdy Rowdy Week

(August 14, 2014) Thousands of McNeese State University students are heading back to campus for the fall semester that begins Aug. 25. Several activities are scheduled during Howdy Rowdy Week - set for Aug. 24-29 - to welcome back both new and returning students.
Student organizations, the Greeks, university offices, academic departments, local businesses and community service agencies, and campus ministries - all of these will have representatives on campus during this week to introduce the students to what the campus and community have to offer, according to Kedrick Nicholas, director of Holbrook Student Union and Activities at McNeese.

Scheduled events are as follows:

Sunday, Aug. 24
Welcome Back Party - 7 p.m., Memorial Gymnasium/Quad Area
Free food and take-home novelties, music by a DJ, interactive attractions and group competitions for great prizes will be offered by the Student Life Coalition, which includes the Student Union Board and the Multicultural Programming and Leadership Programming offices.

Monday, Aug. 25
Get Connected Day - 9 a.m.-noon, New Ranch (Student Union Annex)
Various campus offices and academic areas will hand out information and answer questions about the services they provide.

Tuesday, Aug. 26
Student Organizations Fair - 9 a.m.-noon, New Ranch
Members of over 120 recognized student organizations will be on hand to welcome students, faculty and staff, provide information about their organizations and encourage students to be involved on campus.

Wednesday, Aug. 27
Welcome Back Wednesday & Meet the Greeks - 10 a.m.-1 p.m., Quad area
Welcome Back Wednesday - sponsored by SUB - provides music, free food and take home novelties, interactive attractions such as a zip line and prizes for activity participation for McNeese students. Greek sororities and fraternities will also be there to hand out information about rush and recruitment.

Thursday, Aug. 28
Campus Ministry Day - 9 a.m.-12:30 p.m., New Ranch
McNeese's campus ministry student organizations and local churches in the area will be there to distribute information to students about joining their organizations and attending their worship services and meetings. 

Friday, Aug. 29
Community Day - 9 a.m.-12:30 p.m., New Ranch
Local businesses and community service agencies will staff booths with freebies, prize drawings and information about their organizations, including part-time employment and internship opportunities.
