Parent Orientation

Parent Orientation Information

Welcome to Parent Orientation 2020!  We are excited that you will take the opportunity to visit our campus and become more informed of how you can support your students. This program will offer you a chance to partake in the opening and closing of studen orientation, introduce you to several support services at the University, and provide other information pertinent to you as family members of incoming students.  We welcome you to the McNeese family!  If you have any questions regarding Parent Orientation contact the Office of Student Services at 337-475-5609 or email

Parent orientations scheduled are concurrent with freshman orientations and take place on the following dates: June 3-4, June 24-25,  July 13-14, August 14-15.  Day 1 is optional for parents, but we encourage participation in its brief schedule.

Academic Signing Day Parent Session vs Parent Orientation:  Information presented at Parent Orientation is much more in-depth.  Also, at Parent Orientation you have the opportunity to interact with many more administrators and lots of time is dedicated to Q&A.  The parent workshop at Academic Signing Day only introduces you to information you need to know as a parent of a McNeese student.  Parent Orientation prepares you to be a solid, supportive parent of a McNeese student; informed of services and opportunities you can encourage your student to take advantage of.

Overnight Accommodations:  Students who live outside of Calcasieu Parish are required to stay overnight on campus during orientation (except for the August session).  Students who live inside of Calcasieu Parish are not required to stay overnight on campus, but it is strongly recommended to get the full experience of freshman orientation.  The mandatory student orientation fee is not reduced if a student inside of Calcasieu Parish decides to not stay overnight.  For the August 14-15 session, only students who will be on-campus residents for the fall semester will stay overnight on campus.  Overnight accommodations are not provided for parents, but recommendations are available at the bottom of this web page.
