The Horatio Alger National and Bill Doré Louisiana Scholarships
The Horatio Alger National and Bill Doré Louisiana Scholarships reward students who possess the character to succeed in life. The program specifically assists high school students who have faced and overcome great obstacles in their young lives.
The State Scholarships are funded by Horatio Alger Members who have experienced challenges but ultimately overcame them to become successful business and civic leaders. The Horatio Alger Louisiana Scholars program is funded by Mr. William Doré, a McNeese alumnus. Mr. Doré grew a small Gulf of Mexico diving company with three workers to an international corporation (Global Industries, Ltd.) with more than 8000 employees.
McNeese is one of two universities where the LA Scholars Award may be used to pursue a higher education.
