Philosophy teaches a number of skills students find to be beneficial regardless of where they end up in life. As a discipline, it focuses on critical thinking and analysis while exploring fundamental questions about the human experience. Philosophy students have a long track record of exceptional performance on standard exams like the LSAT, GRE, MCAT, and GMAT.
The current faculty are Tom E. Baril, Johannes Bulhof, Matthew A. Butkus, and Todd M. Furman. They offer courses ranging from critical thinking to applied ethics, metaphysics, and epistemology. The philosophy faculty are currently exploring expanding the degree opportunities for McNeese students, with the goal of offering a full major. Additionally, the faculty sponsor a number of discussions and other club events throughout the year. Specific information can be found on the philosophy faculty website.
