Service Learning is a method of teaching and learning in which one or more academic objectives of a course are met through meaningful service to the community.  Students apply knowledge and sharpen their skills while they contribute to non-profit, charitable agencies or to civic or governmental organizations. Service learning is the result of collaboration among a student, university professor, and mentor from the community agency or organization.
