1.16.6 Crisis Intervention

Purpose
- To define the appropriate actions and responses to various crisis situations that may occur on the University campus.
Responsibility
- Any individual that witnesses a potential crisis situation shall contact University Police.
- University Police will be contacted for all crisis situations.
- Be prepared to provide the following information:
- Your name, location, and telephone number
- Location of incident
- Name(s) of all parties involved, if known
- Extent of injuries, if known
- Any additional information you may be able to provide
- Be prepared to provide the following information:
- University Police will be contacted for all crisis situations.
- McNeese State University Crisis Response Team will assist as needed for all crisis situations.
General Guideline
- On Campus Death
- In the event of a known or suspected death, contact University Police by dialing:
- #111 if calling from an on-campus extension
- 475-5711 if calling from a cell telephone or off-campus telephone
- University Police will dispatch officers to the scene.
- University Police will contact as needed:
- Emergency Medical Services
- Crisis Response Team
- Other area agencies as needed
- In the event of a known or suspected death, contact University Police by dialing:
- Mental Health
- Call or have the individual call the McNeese Counseling Center at ext. 5136 and request an appointment.
- If it is an emergency, request immediate attention
- If it is an extreme emergency, contact University Police for assistance by dialing:
- #111 if calling from an on-campus extension
- 475-5711 if calling from a cell telephone or off-campus telephone
- Call or have the individual call the McNeese Counseling Center at ext. 5136 and request an appointment.
- Sexual Assault or Rape
- In the event of a sexual assault or rape, contact University Police by dialing:
- #111 if calling from an on-campus extension
- 475-5711 if calling from a cell telephone or off-campus telephone
- University Police will dispatch officers to the scene.
- University Police will contact as needed:
- Emergency Medical Services
- Crisis Response Team
- Other area agencies as needed
- In the event of a sexual assault or rape, contact University Police by dialing:
- Threat Or Act Of Violence
- In the event of a threat or act of violence, contact University Police by dialing:
- #111 if calling from an on-campus extension
- 475-5711 if calling from a cell telephone or off-campus telephone
- University Police will dispatch officers to the scene.
- University Police will contact as needed:
- Emergency Medical Services
- Crisis Response Team
- Other area agencies as needed
- In the event of a threat or act of violence, contact University Police by dialing:
