Rodeo Updates at College National Finals Rodeo

(June 17, 2014) Several McNeese State University rodeo team members are currently among the leaders at the College National Finals Rodeo in Casper, Wyo., that runs through Saturday, June 21.
 
After two rounds, Chad Rutherford, Itasca, Texas, is in fifth place in the bareback riding competition. He placed 10th in the first go round on Sunday and third place in the second go round on Monday.
 
After the first go on Monday, Jonathan Torres, Ocala, Fla., is tied for third place in team roping.
 
Cowgirls Chelsea Carroll, Opelousas, Lauren Hansen, Sulphur, and Kirsten Smith, St. Francisville, are all currently in the top 20 of the goat tying competition after the first go Monday, while Kyla Foster, Sweetlake, and Smith are in the top 20 of breakaway roping after the first go on Sunday.

After Tuesday's competition at the 66th College National Finals Rodeo underway in Casper, Wyo., several McNeese rodeo team members are currently among the leaders in the competition.
           
In bareback riding, Chad Rutherford, Itasca, Texas, is in 8th place overall in the event going into the third go round on Friday, June 20.

Johnathan Torres, Ocala, Fla., finished in 19th place in team roping in the second go Tuesday and finished 14th overall in the event going into the third go round on Friday.
           
After two go rounds in breakaway, Kirsten Smith, St. Francisville, is in 10th place while Kyla Foster, Sweetlake, is in 15th place.
           
After two go rounds in goat tying, Chelsea Carroll, Opelousas, is tied for 12th place and Smith is tied for 21st place.
             
Finals are set for Saturday, June 21, and the top 12 qualifiers in each of the nine events qualify for Saturday's championship finals.
