SACS Criteria

MCNEESE STATE UNIVERSITY
FACULTY REQUIREMENTS RELATED TO SACS CRITERIA
Requirements Pertain to Any Person Teaching a Course

TEACHING GRADUATE ASSISTANT:
Minimum requirement: Must have earned at least 18 graduate hours in the teaching discipline, be under direct supervision of a faculty member experienced in the teaching discipline, receive regular in-service training, and be evaluated regularly. (Does not apply for those supervising labs.)

Documentation required on file in Academic Affairs Office: Original transcript(s); completed MSU Data Sheet; completed employment application; resume; other documentation as requested.

FACULTY TEACHING REMEDIAL COURSES:
Minimum requirement: Baccalaureate degree in discipline related to course taught and teaching experience in a discipline related to the course; or baccalaureate degree in a discipline related to the course and graduate training in remedial education.

Documentation required on file in Academic Affairs Office: Original transcript(s); copy of teaching certificate; evidence of graduate training; completed MSU Data Sheet; completed employment application; resume; letters of reference; official documentation of work competency; other documentation as requested.

FACULTY TEACHING ASSOCIATE AND BACCALAUREATE LEVEL COURSES:
(except physical education activities courses) Note: At least 25 percent of the course discipline hours in each undergraduate major must be taught by faculty members holding the terminal degree.

Minimum requirement: Must hold the master’s degree and 18 graduate semester hours in the teaching discipline; or hold the master’s degree with a major in the teaching discipline.

Documentation required on file in Academic Affairs Office: Original transcript(s); completed MSU Data Sheet; completed employment application; resume; official documentation of professional and work experience; official documentation of work competency; records of publications, certifications, and other qualifications; letters of reference; other documentation as requested.

FACULTY TEACHING GRADUATE LEVEL COURSES:
Minimum requirement: Must hold the terminal degree (earned doctorate) in the teaching discipline or a related discipline. (M.F.A.. M.L.S. and M.S.W. may be considered the terminal degree in the discipline.)

Documentation required on file in Academic Affairs Office: Original transcripts; official documentation of professional and work experience, technical and performance competency; records of publications; certifications and other qualifications; resume; completed MSU employment application; letters of reference, other documentation as requested.
