  1. POLICY STATEMENT:

    In accordance with authority granted by the Department of Civil Service under Rule 6.5 (b), it is the policy of McNeese State University to implement a Flexible Special Entrance Rate for Police Officers who are Post Certified and performing patrol duty.


  2. PURPOSE:

    The purpose of this policy is to provide the McNeese State University Police Department with a tool that allows for competitive pay for recruitment and retention efforts for patrol officers who are normally paid less than the going market rate for Police Officers in Calcasieu Parish.


  3. APPLICABILITY:

    This policy shall be applicable to all patrol officers with Post Certification in the following titles:

    • Police Officer 1-A
    • Police Officer 2-A
    • Police Sergeant-A
    • Police Investigator


  4. PROCEDURE:

    The Flexible Special Entrance Rate for hiring or promotion will be set at:

    • Police Officer 1-A     $13.26 per hour
    • Police Officer 2-A     $14.19 per hour
    • Police Sergeant-A    $17.39 per hour
    • Police Investigator    $17.39 per hour
