Music Program Keyboard Area
1. Josie Basone Digiglia Scholarship in Piano – approx. $ 335 per semester Selection: Input of Department Head. Requirements: 2.5 overall GPA; No residency requirement; Must be senior or graduate student; must earn 12 hrs. toward degree requirements each semester of award. Length: May hold until graduation; one semester probation.
2. Casa Hines Milburn Scholarship – approx. $ 400.00 per semester Selection: Vote of keyboard faculty at the end of each semester’s performance boards. Requirements: Piano major; 2.5 music GPA; 2.5 overall GPA; must earn minimum of 12 cr. hrs. toward degree requirements each semester of award. Length: May hold until graduation (8 semesters) upon vote of keyboard faculty; one semester probation. 3. Mamie Oliver Music Scholarship – approx. $ 500.00 per semester Selection: Vote of keyboard faculty at the end of each semester’s performance boards. Requirements: Piano major; 3.0 music GPA; 2.5 overall GPA; U.S. Citizen; must earn minimum of 12 cr. hrs. toward degree requirements each semester of award. Length: May hold until graduation (8 semesters) upon vote of keyboard faculty; one semester probation.
4. Dr. Fred Sahlmann Music Scholarship – approx. $ 600.00 per semester Selection: Preference given to piano major; recommendation of Department Head with consult of the Music Program Scholarship Committee. Requirements: Overall GPA of 3.00; if a high school student, 3.00 GPA; U.S. Citizen; open classification; must earn minimum of 12 cr. hrs. toward degree requirements each semester of award. Length: May hold until graduation (8 semesters); one semester probation.
Vocal Music Education/Piano Area 1. Marie Richardson Memorial Scholarship - $ 650.00 per semester Selection: Recommendation of Department Head to District V Vocal Music Teachers membership. Donor approval needed Requirements: Vocal music education or piano major; Junior level or above; U.S. citizen; 3.0 semester GPA; 3.0 overall GPA; must earn minimum of 12 cr. hrs. toward degree requirements each semester of award. Length: May hold until graduation; one semester probation.
Vocal Area 1. Dr. William C. Groves Voice Scholarship - $ 820.00 per semester Selection: Vote of the voice faculty following an audition. Requirements: Vocal music education or performance major; No classification requirements; Open citizenship; 2.5 overall GPA; 3.0 music GPA; must earn minimum of 12 cr. hrs. toward degree requirements each semester of award. Length: Re-audition each spring semester; current applicant is eligible for audition; one semester probation.
Vocal or Piano 1. Audrey F. Helms Memorial Music Scholarship - $ 350.00 per semester Selection: By department head and scholarship committee. Requirements: Vocal music education, vocal performance, piano pedagogy or piano performance major; freshman until graduation; Louisiana and parish resident; 3.0 overall GPA; 3.0 music GPA; must earn minimum of 12 cr. hrs. toward degree requirements each semester of award. Length: Until graduation; one semester probation for GPA.
Open Classification 1. Dr. Sam Emerson Music Scholarship - $ 1,600.00 per semester Selection: Vote of music faculty following performance competition. Requirements: 2.5 semester GPA; 2.5 overall GPA; State residency requirement; must earn 12 cr. hrs. toward degree requirements each semester of award. Length: May hold until graduation (8 semesters); one semester probation.
2. M.J. Love Music Scholarship - $ 760.00 per semester Selection: Vote of music faculty following performance competition. Requirements: 3.0 semester GPA; 3.0 overall GPA; financial need a consideration; must earn 12 cr. hrs. toward degree requirements each semester of award. Length: May hold until graduation (8 semesters); one semester probation.
3. George Ruffin Marshall Memorial Scholarship - $ 500.00 per semester Selection: Recommendation of Department Head to Music Program Scholarship Committee; more than one recipient possible. Requirements: Highest GPA for semester; 15 cr. hrs. minimum; based on Honor Roll listing provided by Registrar. Length: One semester award; recipient may receive more than one semester. 4. Storer Family Scholarship - $ 950.00 per semester Selection: Vote of Music Program Scholarship Committee upon reviewing written nominations from the faculty. Recipient must demonstrate excellence in scholarship and musicianship and a strong potential for future professional success. Requirements: 3.0 GPA each semester; 3.0 overall GPA; must earn 12 hrs. toward degree requirements each semester of award; city or state residency. Length: May hold until graduation (8 semesters); 1 semester probation.
Theatre Arts Program Theatre Majors 1. Michel Scholarship - $ 750.00 per semester Selection: Recommendation of Coordinator of Theatre upon application and interview. Recipient must demonstrate through interview and essay creative talent and academic potential. Requirements: 3.0 GPA in theatre courses each semester; 2.0 overall GPA each semester; must earn 12 hrs. toward degree requirements each semester of award; open classification; no residency requirement. Length: 1 academic year; recipient may receive more than 1 semester.
2. Rosa Hart Scholarship - $ 325.00 per semester Selection: Vote of Theatre Program Scholarship Committee upon application and interview. Recipient must demonstrate potential to develop leadership, integrity, academic success and creative potential Requirements: 3.0 GPA in theatre courses each semester; 3.0 overall GPA each semester; must earn 12 hrs. toward degree requirements each semester of award; open classification; no residency requirement. Length: 1 academic year; recipient may receive more than one semester.
Theatre or Related Program Major 1.Anita and Joe Tritico Scholarship - $ 425. 00 per semester Selection: Vote of Theatre Program Scholarship Committee upon application and interview. Recipient must demonstrate potential to develop leadership, integrity, academic success and creative potential Requirements: 3.0 GPA in theatre courses each semester; 2.0 overall GPA each semester; must earn 12 hrs. toward degree requirements each semester of award; open classification; theatre or related area major; no residency requirement. Length: 1 academic year; recipient may receive more than one semester.
Direct Donor Scholarships/Awards in Theatre Arts Theatre or Related Program Major 1. Coire LeBlanc Award - $ 150.00 per semester Selection: Vote of Theatre Program Scholarship Committee. Award given to recognize service to theatre academics and/or productions. Requirements: 2.0 GPA; must have eared 12 hrs. toward degree requirements each semester of previous academic year; open classification; no residency requirement. Length: 1 academic year; recipient may receive more than one semester.
2. Margery Wilson Scholarship - $ 500.00 per semester ($ 250 from Friends) Selection: Vote of Theatre Program Scholarship Committee upon application and interview; approval of donor; Recipient must demonstrate potential as a creative theatre artist and/or an effective teacher. Requirements: 3.0 GPA in theatre courses each semester; 3.0 overall GPA each semester; must earn 12 hrs. toward degree requirements each semester of award; open classification; no residency requirement. Length: Until graduation as long as eligible.
