McNeese Hosts Faculty Flute Recital

(February 19, 2014) The McNeese State University Performing Arts Department will host a faculty flute recital featuring Judy Hand at 8 p.m. Monday, Feb. 24, in Ralph Squires Recital Hall in the Shearman Fine Arts Center as part of its Spring Faculty/Guest Artist Series.

This free program will feature: "Reverie and Petite Valse" by Andre Caplet; "Wildflowers for Flute, Clarinet and Piano" by Eric Ewazen; "Crónicas del descubrimiento for Flute and Guitar" by Roberto Sierra; and "Sonata for Flute and Piano" by Jindrich Feld. Hand will be accompanied by Lina Morita on piano, Jan Scott on clarinet and Jay Kacherski on guitar.

An associate professor of music at McNeese, Hand teaches flute, chamber music, music history, ear training and class piano. She holds a bachelor's degree in music education from the University of Arkansas and a Master of Music degree and the Doctor of Musical Arts degree in flute performance from Louisiana State University. She has toured England and Wales with the International Flute Orchestra and has been awarded numerous arts grants, including the Louisiana Artist Fellowship. Hand is currently principal flute in the Lake Charles and Rapides symphonies.
