McNeese Faculty Recital Set


The McNeese State University Department of Performing Arts will present a free faculty recital featuring Judy Hand on flute at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 26, in Ralph Squires Recital Hall in the Shearman Fine Arts Center. She will be accompanied by Lina Morita on piano and Jay Kacherski on guitar.

The program will feature works by Camille Saint-Saens, Carl Stamitz, Bohuslav Martinu, Keith Gates and Alfredo Casella.

Hand is associate professor of music at McNeese. She teaches flute, chamber music, music history, ear training and music appreciation. She holds a bachelor's degree in music education from the University of Arkansas and a Master of Music degree and the Doctor of Musical Arts in flute performance from Louisiana State University.

Morita, assistant professor of music, teaches piano and received her Bachelor of Music degree from Indiana University, Master of Music degree from Rice University and her doctorate from the Eastman School of Music in piano performance and literature.

Kacherski earned his master's degree in guitar performance and literature from the Eastman School of Music and is currently working on his Doctorate of Musical Arts degree in classical guitar performance at the University of Texas at Austin.
