McNeese Choirs Concert Scheduled

The McNeese State University Department of Performing Arts will present the Concert Chorale and Chamber Singers in a free fall concert at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 19, in the Shearman Fine Arts Performing Arts Theatre.

The choirs are under the direction of Darryl Jones, director of choral activities, and will be accompanied on piano by both Christy Vogt, assistant professor of music, and Lina Morita, associate professor of music.

Concert Chorale will present a variety of musical styles. Selections include: "Haste Thee, Nymph" (from "L'Allegro") by Handel; "Tu pauperum refugium" by Josquin; "Petite et accipietis" by Michael Haydn; "Hatikva" and "River in Judea" arranged by John Leavitt; and choral highlights from "Jersey Boys" arranged by Mark Brymer.  

The Chamber Singers will perform "Magnificat in G" by Giacomo Puccini Sr.; "Ubi Caritas II: Through Infinite Ages" by Ola Gjeilo; "Cantos del Agua," a set of three Federico Garcia Lorca poems set to music by Dante Andreo; two selections by Morten Lauridsen, "Prayer" and "Sure on This Shining Night"; and "Dance a cachuca, fandango, bolero" from "The Gondoliers."
