(March 27, 2014) The McNeese State University Performing Arts Department will present the Woodwind Studio and Clarinet Choir in a free recital at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, April 1, in Ralph Squires Recital Hall under the direction of Jan Scott, assistant professor of music at McNeese.
The Woodwind Studio program will include: "Sonata" by Johann Baptist Wanhal, with Seungmin Oh, on clarinet, and Eleanor Elkins, on piano; "Aria" by Eugene Bozza, with Austin Vallot, on saxophone, and Elkins, piano; "Sonata-First Movement" by Paul Hindemith, with Jamie Beaulieu, on clarinet, and Elkins, piano; "Etude No. 24" by Cyrille Rose, with Miranda Vaughn, on clarinet; "Fantasy Piece" by Robert Schumann, with Thomas Sexton Logan, on clarinet, and Bob Emmanuel, on piano; "Concerto" by Franz Haydn, with Darby Swoboda, on oboe, and Emmanuel, piano; "Sonatina" by Miklos Roza, with Will Christian, on clarinet; "Concerto' by W.A. Mozart, with Trae Block, on bassoon, and Elkins, piano; "Sonata-Langsam/Marsch" by Hindemith, with Dallas Lauderdale, on bassoon, and Elkins, piano; "Capriccio" by Heinrich Sutermeister, with Justin Windemiller, clarinet; and "Five Bagetelles" by Gerald Finzi, with Taylor Moore, on clarinet, and Elkins, piano.
The Clarinet Choir program will feature "Rialto Ripples Rag" by Gershwin/Mack and "Chorale and Danza" by Vaclav Nelybel. Clarinet Choir members are Beaulieu, Chelsea Boudreaux, Christian, Amber Dixon, Matthew Duplantis, Logan, Moore, Alexis Naquin, Aaron Racca, Vallot, Vaughn and Windemiller, McNeese students; and Tamylles Costa, Cree Nielsen-Sewell and Caleb Thibodeaux, Barbe High School students.
