Spring Choral Concert

The McNeese State University Department of Performing Arts will present the Concert Chorale and Men's and Women's Ensembles in a free spring concert at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, May 1, in the Shearman Fine Arts Performing Arts Theatre.
           
The choir and ensembles are under the direction of Darryl Jones, director of choral activities at McNeese.
           
The Women's Ensemble will sing several movements from Pergolesi's "Stabat Mater,"  including "Stabat mater dolorosa," "Quae moerebat et dolebat," "Fac, ut aredeat cor meum," "Inflammatus et ascensus," "Quando corpus morietur" and "Amen."
           
In addition the ensemble will sing: "Danny Boy" arranged by Dede Duson, "Echo" by Eleanor Daley, "Johnny Has Gone for a Soldier" arranged by Robert Greenlee, "Rain of Diamonds" and "I Will Be Earth" by Gwyneth Walker and "Bumble Bee" by Anders Edenroth.  Women's Ensemble is accompanied by Christy Corley.
           
Concert Chorale will perform a variety of musical selections, including "Festival Introit" by Greg Knauf, "Vere languores nostris" by Antonio Lotti, "Veni Creator Spiritus" by J.M. Haydn, "In the Time of Silver Rain" by Rollo Dilworth, "El Besu" arranged by Vicente Chavarria and "Battle of Jericho" arranged by Mark Hayes. Concert Chorale is accompanied by Samantha Holland.
           
The Men's Ensemble will perform "What Shall We Do With a Drunken Sailor?" arranged by Marshall Bartholomew, "Wir Haben Ihn Gesehen" from "Christ on the Mount of Olives" by Beethoven, arranged by Alexa Doebele, "Du Bist die Ruh" by Schubert, arranged by Peter Eklund, "Dirait-on" by Morten Lauridsen, "The Minstrel Boy" arranged by Ron Jeffers and "Man of La Mancha (I, Don Quixote)" arranged by Kirby Shaw. Men's Ensemble is accompanied by Corley.
