McNeese Hosts Free Recital

(September 9, 2016) The McNeese State University Performing Arts Department will present a free guest artist recital featuring Shawn Roy, bass-baritone, and Dr. Chan Kiat Lim, pianist, at 7 p.m. Friday, Sept. 16, in Tritico Theatre of the Shearman Fine Arts Annex. This performance is part of the fall Faculty/Guest Recital Series hosted by the department. musicians with instruments

Both Roy and Lim are faculty members in the School of Music and Performing Arts at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette and both are graduates of the Cincinnati College Conservatory of Music.

They began their work together in 2005 and have performed all over the country in recital and also recorded a CD titled “An American Kaleidoscope: Song Cycles Through the Lenses of William Bolcom, John Duke, Thomas Pasatieri and Ned Rorem” on Centaur Records.
 
The recital will feature two of the song cycles from the CD as well as pieces by Ben Moore, arrangements of “Sea Chanties” by Celius Dougherty and two spirituals by Louisiana composer Charles Lloyd Jr.
