(October 2, 2015) The McNeese State University Department of Performing Arts will present a free concert featuring the Chamber Singers at 8 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 8, in Tritico Theatre of the Shearman Fine Arts Annex.

The choirs are under the direction of Dr. Darryl Jones, director of choral activities, and will be accompanied on piano by student Andrew Steiner.

A variety of musical styles will be featured during the concert. Selections include: “Jauchzet dem Herrn” by Johann Pachelbel, featuring a student brass ensemble; “Abendlied” by Josef Rheinberger; “O Praise the Lord of Heaven” and “I Am the Rose of Sharon” by William Billings; “Cantique de Jean Racine” by Gabriel Fauré; “Shall I Compare Thee to a Summer’s Day” by Nils Lindberg; “Blow, Blow, Thou Winter Wind” by Miachael John Trotta, commemorating the 400th anniversary of the death of William Shakespeare; “An die Heimat” by Johannes Brahms and “Homeland” by Z. Randall Stroope, two contrasting views on paying homage to a person’s “homeland.”
