The film, directed by Julien Leclercq, is based on the real-life hijacking of a Paris-bound Air France flight from Algiers on Christmas Eve in 1994. The film expertly cuts between the chaos inside the plane, the negotiations within government buildings and the precision of the special-ops team as it attempts to storm the flight and rescue the plane's passengers.
As the film progresses, Leclercq heightens the sense of tension by using actual footage of the rescue operation, which was broadcast live on French television at the time. More than 200 passengers were freed during this harrowing event, but the mission was not without multiple fatalities.
