The McNeese State University Department of Performing Arts will present the McNeese Honors Brass Quintet and the Quint-essentials woodwind ensemble in a free concert at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 7, in Ralph Squires Recital Hall in the Shearman Fine Arts Building. The groups are under the direction of McNeese faculty Dave Scott and Jan Scott respectively.
The Honors Brass Quintet program will feature: "Dance" by Wilke Renwick; "Three Pieces" by Ludwig Maurer; "Satirical Dance" by Dimitri Shostakovich, arranged by Alan Raph; "Die Bankelsangerlieder" by anonymous, arranged by Robert King; "Maria" by Leonard Bernstein, arranged by Jack Gale; "Frost Fire" by Eric Ewazen; and "That's a Plenty" by Lew Pollack, arranged by Joseph Cooper.
Honors Brass Quintet members are: Zachary Alcantara, trumpet, Houston, Texas, senior music education major; Eric Rodriguez, trumpet, Vidor, Texas, junior music education major; Tiffany Smith, horn, Kirbyville, Texas, senior music education major; Emmanuel Neault, trombone, Killeen, Texas, junior music education major; and Chace LeBlanc, bass trombone/tuba, Erath junior music performance major.
The Quint-essentials program will include: "Passacaille" by Adrien Barthe; "Triptych" by Alexander von Kreisler; "Carnival" by David Reed; "Pastoral" by Vincent Persichetti; "The Pink Panther" by Henry Mancini/arranged by James Christensen; and "Looney Tunes" arranged by Bill Holcombe.
Quint-essential members are: Stephanie Vidrine, flute, Iowa junior music education major; JoAnna Waite, oboe, Sulphur sophomore psychology major; Miranda Vaughn, clarinet, Lake Charles junior music education major; Justin Windemiller, clarinet, Liberty, Texas, junior performance major; Trae Block, bassoon, Vidor, Texas, sophomore music education major; and Andrew Perry, horn, Sulphur sophomore pre-medicine major.
