Undergraduate Admission/Auditions Process                                         

 

Constantly striving for academic and artistic excellence, the Theatre Program of the Department of

Performing Arts provides an exciting and mentoring environment in which undergraduate students

prepare for a variety of theatre related careers in the context of a liberal arts education.

 

All entering freshmen, transfer, and former students seeking re-admission must meet the admission requirements for the university and complete the following undergraduate application process:

 

1. Submit a completed Application for Undergraduate Admission including a $20.00 application fee and a completed Proof of Immunization Compliance Form.  Apply as early as possible.

2. Send your official ACT scores (McNeese School Code: 1594) or SAT scores (McNeese School Code: 6403) directly to the university from the testing agency.

 

3. Submit a completed Theatre Entrance Audition/Scholarship Application.

4. Perform an entrance audition/interview which also serves as a scholarship audition.  

· An entrance audition/interview may be scheduled on the regular semester audition day or on an individual basis by contacting the Coordinator of Theatre, Professor Joy Pace at 337.475.5042 or jpace@mcneese.edu

· Transfer students who currently hold a scholarship from another institution will be required to furnish a letter of release from the appropriate institutional authority before their audition can be heard.

· Questions concerning any aspect of the entrance audition/interview process should be directed to the Coordinator of Theatre.

Entrance Audition/Interview Guidelines

· A prospective major will be scheduled for an interview before the full Theatre Faculty prior to the first semester of enrollment.

· A prospective major will perform two contrasting monologues (one to two minutes each) before the full Theatre Faculty for the purposes of initial assessment and eligibility for departmental financial awards and scholarships.
