David Scott Trumpet
David Scott, associate professor of music in trumpet, has held the Alexander Endowed Professorship in Music. He also served on the faculties of the University of Idaho and Kentucky State University. He received his education at DePauw University, University of Washington, University of Louisville, and the University of Texas. Dave Scott has performed as a recitalist/clinician throughout the United States and with such orchestras as the Louisville Orchestra, Palm Beach Opera, Spokane Symphony, Lake Charles Symphony, and the Midland-Odessa Symphony Orchestra, and an artist at the Lutheran Summer Music Academy and Sewanee Summer Music Festival. He also is a Voting Member of the Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences (Grammy Awards), a Yamaha Performing Artist, a Louisiana Touring Artist and a Louisiana Roster Artist. Scott is a founding member of the chamber ensemble PASTICHE, acclaimed internationally for its talent and polish. Actively involved in expanding the repertoire, PASTICHE blends an array of styles ranging from the Baroque to works by Pulitzer Prize winning composers. The quartet has performed in a variety of settings, from Community Concerts to New Music Festivals. PASTICHE records with Innova and Centaur Labels. In 1998 PASTICHE was an artist at the ITG Conference in Lexington, KY. Dave Scott, an active ITG member since 1978, is the International Trumpet Guild Membership Coordinator. He was the ITG Solo Competition chair in 1994 and 1998 and has performed at several ITG conferences as well as being founder of the Gulf Coast ITG Chapter. The McNeese Trumpet Ensemble, under Scott, was selected to perform at the Fort Worth ITG International Conference. He adjudicated the 1997 ITG Composition Contest, 2000 ITG Young Artist Award, and continues to review CDs for the ITG Journal.
His principal teachers include Leon Rapier, Ray Crisara, Robert Grocock, and Roger Voisin.
