The Infirmary
McNeese University operates the Dr. Thomas Henry Watkins Infirmary for its students. Nurses are on duty and doctors maintain office hours on the premises. Staff and faculty can be treated for emergencies only.
Health and accident insurance is included in the student's registration fee.

Spring 2007 Doctor’s Schedule
Whenever possible, please schedule your appointment in advance by calling or coming by the Student Health Center. If you cannot attend your scheduled appointment, for any reason, please call the center at 475-5748. Voice mail is available after hours. Two missed appointments will result in the loss of Infirmary privileges for the rest of the semester.
Hours of operation: Mon.-Fri. 7:00 a.m.- 4:30 p.m.
The Counseling Center assists students with regards to their personal development. College presents new and difficult challenges to all students and meeting these challenges can affect one's self-concept far into the future.
Services are available at no charge to all students, faculty and staff in the University. The center makes available counseling to assist students with personal adjustment and offers marital counseling as long as one partner is enrolled. Psychological and aptitude assessment is available by appointment. Students are encouraged to telephone for appointments but walk-in appointments are available as time permits.
The center, located on the first floor of Kaufman Hall, is open between 8:00 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday throughout the calendar year except official university holidays.
Confidentiality of counseling sessions is strictly maintained and records of the center are kept separate from other McNeese University student records. No content information will be released to a student's family or other University departments without the student's knowledge and written consent. The only exception to the above procedure is in the event of an emergency, a life threatening event, or through a requirement from a court.
Students faced with decisions that require careful consideration and additional information, whether in the area of personal concerns or academic matters, are invited to use to the services offered by the Counseling Center. |
