The McNeese State University Department of Performing Arts will present a faculty recital featuring Jan Scott on clarinet, with Lina Morita on piano and guest artist Lin He on violin, at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 24, in Ralph Squires Recital Hall.
The theme of this spring’s McNeese State University Senior Adult Group Encounter program is “Louisiana Potpourri.”
A one-stop registration help desk will be available to students during late spring registration Jan. 9-12 at McNeese State University. Students who have met with their advisers and received their alternate PIN can drop by the Academic Computing Center in Kirkman Hall from 7:45 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Monday, Jan. 9, through Thursday, Jan. 12, to receive assistance with late registration. At the help desk, representatives from financial aid and the registrar’s office will be available to answer questions and help with pin/password resets.
McNeese Theatre auditions for spring productions, “All My Sons” and “Louisiana Purchase,” will be held at 6 p.m. Friday, Jan. 13, in the Shearman Fine Arts Theatre, with call backs beginning at 10 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 14. Based upon a true story, “All My Sons” by Arthur Miller opens the spring season March 14-18. This play is a tremendously impressive drama that received the New York Drama Critics Circle Award and the Tony Award for Best Play. Set in August of 1946 in the mid-west of the United States, Joe Keller and Herbert Deever ran a machine shop that made airplane parts during the war. Deever was sent to prison because the firm turned out defective parts, causing the deaths of many men. Keller went free and made a lot of money.
Robert Noland, a Lake Charles businessman, received an honorary Doctorate of Humane Letters during McNeese State University’s fall commencement ceremony Saturday, Dec. 17, at Burton Coliseum.
Students registering late for McNeese State University’s spring 2012 semester can register online or with their faculty adviser Jan. 9-12.
Ashley E. Hebert, a Ville Platte senior majoring in visual arts with a concentration in graphic design at McNeese State University, has been awarded the Nowell A. Daste Scholarship for the spring semester by the McNeese Department of Visual Arts.
Spring 2012 term bills will be available online Nov. 28 to students through the MyMcNeese Portal or their Banner Self-Service account. Fee bills will not be mailed.
Aleshia Cox, a Vinton senior visual arts major at McNeese State University, has had artwork accepted in a juried photography exhibition titled “THE DARK SIDE: A Juried Exhibit of Night Photography” at the 1650 Studio & Gallery in Los Angeles, Calif.
McNeese State University’s Student Union Board received two awards at the 2011 South Central Regional Conference of the Association for the Promotion of Campus Activities in Corpus Christi, Texas.
