The McNeese State University Department of Visual Arts will host High School Portfolio Day 2014 for junior and senior high school art students from 9 a.m.-noon Saturday, Feb. 22, in the Abercrombie Gallery.

The McNeese State University Visual Arts Department will sponsor a gumbo fundraiser from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Friday, Feb. 21, in the Shearman Fine Arts Annex Atrium.

McNeese State University’s Financial Aid Office is co-sponsoring a Financial Aid Awareness Day from 10 a.m.-1 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 19, in the Student Union to remind students that it’s time to reapply for financial aid for 2014-2015.

The community is invited to the grand opening of the McNeese State University Student Innovation Center at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 12, in the SEED Center at 4310 Ryan St.

The Second Annual Economics Day Conference will be held from 8:30 a.m.-2:30 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 12, in the Conference Room of the SEED Center at McNeese State University.

The Bill Kushner Clarinet Symposium will be presented Feb. 8 by the McNeese State University Department of Performing Arts and will include a master class, clarinet session and a guest/faculty recital.

Dr. Jennifer Vaught, professor of English at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette, will give a free lecture titled, "Mardi Gras Appropriations of Shakespeare, Spenser and Milton in Nineteenth-Century New Orleans, " at 7 p.m. Friday, Feb. 7

Due to the recent weather-related closures, the opening reception for the McNeese State University Historical Exhibit in F.G. Bulber Auditorium has been rescheduled for Feb. 17 from 4-6 p.m. This event was originally scheduled for Feb. 4.

McNeese State University financial aid staff members will visit area high schools in January and February to explain financial aid application procedures to students.
