The President's Honor List for the spring 2014 semester at McNeese State University has been announced. To be on the President's Honor List, an undergraduate student must earn at least a 3.5 grade point average or better while carrying at least 15 semester hours. A senior eligible for graduation but carrying less than 15 hours is also provided that student was on the President's Honor List the previous semester. Heather Ryan Kelley, professor of art at McNeese, will have one of her works – a collage titled “Portrait” - featured on the cover of an upcoming issue of the James Joyce Quarterly, published by the University of Tulsa in Oklahoma.
Students who have enrolled and registered online for McNeese State University’s 2014 summer classes have until 4:30 p.m. June 4 to pay fees. Classes begin June 9 for the regular summer session.
Registration is underway for the 2014 McNeese State University Teaching and Learning Conference for PK-12 educators July 31-Aug. 1 sponsored by the McNeese Burton College of Education.
(May 15, 2014) McNeese State University's College of Engineering will offer a summer engineering academy July 14-Aug. 1 for high school juniors and seniors interested in pursuing science and engineering careers. The summer program gives students a broad exposure to engineering disciplines (chemical, civil, electrical and mechanical) by offering hands-on projects dealing with real life engineering issues, according to Dr. Nikos Kiritsis, dean of the college. Classes will be offered from 8 a.m.-4 p.m. Monday through Friday in Drew Hall. Day trips are scheduled for the NASA Space Center in Houston, Texas, Creole Nature Trail, New Orleans, Avery Island, Bel's Hackberry hunting lodge and a canoe trip.
(May 13, 2014) The 2014 session of the Governor's Program for Gifted Children at McNeese State University will be held June 8-July 26 and is currently accepting applications. The seven-week summer residential program is held on campus as a summer arts and humanities program for gifted students in Louisiana.
Morri Creech, a 1998 MFA Alumnus, was one of three finalists for the 2014 Pulitzer Prize for poetry with his book, "The Sleep of Reason."
Registration for McNeese State University's summer session is currently underway through June 2, while registration for the fall semester is underway through Aug. 18.
McNeese State University's Class of 1964 will be honored during the annual celebration of the McNeese Alumni Association's Golden Scholar Society on Friday and Saturday, May 16-17. To share in this celebration, the Class of 1964 has invited classmates from 1939-1964 to participate, according to Stephanie Clark, McNeese assistant director of alumni affairs. "This is one of our favorite events that the McNeese Alumni Association sponsors. It's truly amazing to meet our Golden Scholars, visit with them and hear their stories about campus life," said Clark.
