Two members of the McNeese State University rodeo team have qualified for Saturday’s (June 17) finals at the 69th College National Finals Rodeo in Casper, Wyo.

(June 14, 2017)  After three days of competition, several McNeese State University rodeo members are currently among the top 25 in the various categories of competition at the 69th College National Finals Rodeo in Casper, Wyo., that runs through Saturday, June 17. After two go rounds, Cole Frey, Morganza, is the leader in the steer wrestling competition. He placed fifth in his first go and was No. 1 in his second go that took him to the current top spot. Gabe Soileau, Bunkie, is in 14th place in steer wrestling after two go rounds. He placed ninth in the first go round, but tied for 19th place in the second go round. Both Frey and Soileau will compete in their third go rounds in this category on Thursday, June 15. Frey is also 14th in team roping after two go rounds.

Students can still register for the regular summer 2017 session at McNeese State University online or with their faculty adviser during late registration June 9-13.

The McNeese State University Honor Roll for the 2017 spring semester has been announced. The honor roll lists undergraduate students earning at least a 3.0 or B average while carrying 12 or more semester hours.

The President’s Honor List for the spring 2017 semester at McNeese State University has been announced. To be on the President’s Honor List, an undergraduate student must earn at least a 3.5 grade point average or better while carrying at least 15 semester hours. A senior eligible for graduation but carrying less than 15 hours is also provided that student was on the President’s Honor List the previous semester.

Thirty-six McNeese State University students received the Summa Cum Laude (3.90-4.00) designation in spring commencement ceremonies held Saturday, May 13, at Burton Coliseum.

A social media workshop for small businesses will be offered from 2-4 p.m. Tuesday, May 30, on the second floor of the SEED Center at McNeese State University.

Four McNeese State University rodeo team members have earned spots in the 69th College National Finals Rodeo scheduled June 11-17 in Casper, Wyo.

McNeese State University Leisure Learning is offering “A STEM Adventure” summer program as part of its Kids College from May 29-Aug. 11 for children entering grades 1­-8.

Students who have registered online for McNeese State University’s 2017 summer classes have until 4:30 p.m. June 7 to pay fees. Regular summer registration ends June 5 and classes begin June 12.
