The McNeese State University Rodeo Team won both the men's and women's
competitions at the Northeast Texas Community College rodeo at Mt. Pleasant.
Trey Broussard, of Estherwood, won the All-Around Cowboy title, while Jordan
Dupont, of Lacassine, finished second in the All-Around Cowgirl title.
Broussard won the saddle bronc riding title, while Dean
Wadsworth, of Ozona, Texas, finished second.
Jeremy Mouton, of Lafayette, won the bareback riding title.
Beau Schroeder, of China, Texas, won the first round in the bull riding
competition with an 84 score, but finished fourth overall. Broussard
finished sixth in this category and Winn Ratliff, of Leesville, placed
seventh in bull riding.
Dalton Hamrick, of Fort Pierce, Fla., finished eighth in calf roping, while
Barrett Hebert, of Bell City, finished ninth in steer wrestling.
In the team roping competition, Josh Torres and Troy Hudson, both of Ocala,
Fla., finished third, while Cody Sims, of Alvin, Texas, and Jeremy Mercer,
of Crowville, finished in fifth place.
Dupont finished in a tie for third/fourth place in goat tying, while Katie
Perkins, of Kinder, finished in third place in break-away roping. Dupont and
Kenzie Forrest, of Sulphur, finished in a tie for seventh and eighth place
respectively in break-away roping.
The McNeese Rodeo Team will compete Oct. 9-11 at the Southwest Texas Junior
College rodeo in Uvalde.
