| McNeese sponsors special needs workshop for parents |

A workshop titled “Ensuring Success for Your Child with Special Needs: How to Advocate for Your Child in School” will be held from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Nov. 4 in Parra Ballroom of the Student Union Annex at McNeese State University. The workshop is sponsored by the McNeese psychology department, Louisiana Association for Behavior Analysis and Louisiana Advocacy Center.
Registration is $25 per person and $5 for McNeese students with valid IDs. Seating is limited so pre-registration is requested.
Guest speaker is Melissa Losch, managing attorney for the special education legal group for the Louisiana Advocacy Center. The Advocacy Center has offices in New Orleans, Baton Rouge, Lafayette and Shreveport and advocates for students with disabilities throughout the state. Losch has been with the Advocacy Center for six years and works out of the New Orleans office. She will cover such issues as individualized education programs, disciplinary issues, expulsions/exclusions/legal protection, autism law and LaCHIP.
