More than 150 high school band members from across Louisiana and Texas have been selected to the McNeese 2009 All-Star High School Marching Band. This group will perform with the Pride of McNeese Cowboy Marching Band during halftime of the McNeese vs. Savannah State football game Saturday, Sept. 19, in Cowboy Stadium.
McNeese developed the All-Star High School Marching Band as a way to recognize the commitment of high school band students and introduce them to the university’s program, according to Dr. Jay Jacobs, conductor of university bands at McNeese.
Members of the 2009 All-Star High School Marching Band were selected by university band staff and criteria included years of experience, awards received, private lessons taken and extracurricular activities.
Louisiana high schools represented include Barbe, Central Lafouche in Raceland, Delcambre, Ellender Memorial in Houma, Holy Cross in New Orleans, Iowa, Jennings, LaGrange, South Beauregard, Sulphur and Westlake. Texas high schools represented include Anahuac, Bridge City, Kirbyville, Kountze, Liberty, Orangefield, Warren and West Orange-Stark.
Following rehearsal and dinner, the high school band students will join the Pride of McNeese band members in their march to the stadium for Saturday night’s game.
