  Jazz Ensemble Fall Concert on October 16

Associate professor Rick Condit, director of jazz studies at McNeese State University, performs with saxophonist William Christian and other members of the McNeese Jazz Ensemble at a concert in May. The Jazz Ensemble’s annual fall concert will be held at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 16, in Ralph Squires Hall.

The Jazz Ensemble of McNeese State University will present its 28th annual fall concert at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 16, in Ralph Squires Hall at the Shearman Fine Arts Center.

The McNeese Jazz Ensemble, under the direction of associate professor Rick Condit, will perform its latest sampling of high energy, sophisticated big band arrangements and originals featuring the university’s most talented student musicians. The McNeese Little Big Band, under the direction of alumnus Tim McMillen, will join the ensemble in the fall performance. A professional arranger and composer, McMillen served eight years as trombonist and staff arranger for the U.S. Air Force. He is currently band director at W.W. Lewis Middle School in Sulphur. The Little Big Band is an 11-piece ensemble that plays specially tailored arrangements and consists of saxophones, trombones, trumpets and a rhythm section.

Admission to the fall concert is free.
